Transfer: He’ll be squad player – Peter Crouch gives verdict on Chelsea signing

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has given his verdict on Chelsea’s summer signing, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Crouch backed Dewsbury-Hall to be a ‘squad player’ at Chelsea and play back-up to Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Dewsbury-Hall recently completed a £30 million move to Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

The 25-year-old reunited with manager Enzo Maresca, who also left Leicester City for Chelsea.

He signed a six-year deal with Chelsea, keeping him in west London until 2030.

“Towards the end of last season, Enzo Fernandez got much better, and I think we will see more of Enzo and [Moises] Caicedo next year,” Crouch told Paddy Power.

“Now they’ve got a season under their belt, I think they will improve. At the moment, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will be squad player.

“But when someone like Chelsea come in for you, you must give it a go. You can always go back to a team [like Leicester] but you’ve got to try your luck at these clubs. I did that when I went to Liverpool, and it was the best thing I ever did.”
